My New Year's Resolutions | 2018

Happy new year everyone!
I'm very glad 2018 is here. I'm turning 30 this year and this has served as a bit of a wake-up call. Towards the end of last year, I suddenly realised that I had been hiding from myself and my wants. Rather than doing what I knew deep down to be my true desire, I tried to do what I thought others wanted me to do. I fell into the trap of people-pleasing. I have always been wary of this, of living my life for the sake of others. Little did I know that I had slowly but surely been doing exactly this. So by the time Christmas was rolling in, I had made up my mind on what I wanted to change come 2018.

1. Positivity
It's very easy to become negative when things don't seem to be going well. I have often become worried and negative asking myself why I can never catch a break, why this and that has to keep happening. But this year a good friend and I have said that we shall try as hard as we can to remain positive and whenever we feel ourselves slipping into negativity we shall encourage one another to keep the faith and wait for our break.

2. Focus on me
This year I am going to be unapologetically selfish. Now I know what some of you would be thinking, how self-centered does one need to be to want to be selfish? But hear me out. When I say selfish I mean putting my needs at the forefront for once in my life. Taking a little time to appreciate myself, to speak kindly to myself, to give myself a little pep talk whenever I feel down, to treat myself every once in a while, to take better care of myself by eating better and exercising more often. I basically want to do me for a change. I want to do that which makes me happy without worrying about what the next person will say.

3. To push myself harder
I was watching this video yesterday and it has really motivated me to push myself beyond what I imagine I am capable of doing. One of the speakers spoke about how our brains are wired to protect us so it is inevitable that when it comes to the pursue of your dreams you will get stuck where you think your threshold is. But the speaker said we shouldn't allow ourselves to remain there. We should instead go beyond our threshold, push ourselves even harder and in that way, we will achieve not just something excellent but something outstanding. I feel like I have neglected my blog too much. I started YouTube and I lost my mojo even before I had given it my best. This year, I want to focus on that, pushing myself to work on my little bit of internet real estate and create something that I can be proud of.

4. To love unconditionally
To stop judging people, holding onto grudges and instead work on my friendships and give my best to those I love.

All in all, I want to make this year (the last in my 20s, omg!!!) count.

What are some of your new year resolutions?

Thank you for stopping by.
