THROWBACK THURSDAY: One Maxi Dress, Four Ways

Hello lovelies!
When the temperatures are as high as they have been the last couple of weeks, dressing becomes a bit of a problem. You want to dress in a way that is stylish, will keep you cool and will prevent you from getting sunburn (yes, we are Africans and believe it or not, exposure to direct sunlight is harmful to your health). Enter the maxi dress. Maxi dresses come in a variety of styles, cuts and fabrics. Walking around Nairobi, I have seen so many different interpretations of this dress that sometimes I wonder how many more styles  there could be.

My yellow maxi dress is one of my favourite items of clothing. I have worn it for very special occasions such as parties, functions and weddings. The bright yellow colour makes this dress stand out a lot. Thus, many times I try to pair it with simple accessories so as to allow the dress to stand out.

Knotted Maxi Dress
When the ever flowing fabric of your maxi dress needs some revamping, what better way to do this than by tying a knot. What I loved most about the knotted maxi dress is that not many people are doing it meaning that you will look both fashionable and unique.

Two Statement Pieces and Maxi Dress as a Skirt
Even though I like to keep my accessories simple when I'm wearing this dress, from time to time I like to go all out and pair it with other pieces that stand out. On this occasion, I wore it with a green statement necklace. I used black accessories to separate the two statement pieces: a black knit-top and black slim belt to change this maxi dress into a skirt.
Colour-Blocked Maxi Dress
In an effort to try out different colour combinations, I wore my yellow maxi dress with a purple sweater.

For Maternity
Extending your ordinary wardrobe into one suitable for maternity is a bit of a challenge. However, I love maxi dresses for their versatility hence the maxi dress for maternity. Their free style allows them to easily accommodate your growing belly. And with a statement piece like mine, you will remain stylish even during your worst days.

Which outfit is your favourite?
