DRESSED IN CIGARETTE PANTS

Cigarette pants or straight leg trousers have been in vogue for a while now. At first I was skeptical about trying them out. I had just landed in India and thought it was just a trend from a different culture and I was a quite resistant to buying them. But when I went shopping and couldn’t find the hipster jeans that I was accustomed to, I was forced to buy myself a pair. I liked the fit better than the slight flare of the hipsters so much that I got hooked.
These pants, previously worn here, are slowly becoming a favourite of mine. Their colour is neutral (grey) meaning I can pair them with any and all colours and a plus for me, they are not black. If you’ve been reading my blog you’ll have realized that black is one of my fave colours. On this day, I paired them with a blue tunic and pink scarf and plaid ballet flats. It was so cold on this day that I wore a trench coat for added warmth. I tend to overdress when the temperature dips. But towards the afternoon it started getting warmer, so I had to shed a few layers. Thank God this time the layers consisted of the coat only. The weather in Nairobi is so undecided it’s very hard to dress according to the season because throughout the day the temperature varies making layering a must-know.
